Hakusan Tsumugi is a traditional silk fabric that has been passed down in and around Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and is characterized by its handcrafted production method. It mainly uses slubby silk yarn and hand-spun yarn, and the yarn is dyed before weaving to create deep, calm colors. The weave is basically plain weave, and by weaving slowly and carefully, the unevenness of the yarn comes out as a natural texture. This method results in a Tsumugi that is durable yet lightweight, and becomes more comfortable to wear the more you wear it.
